Man finds couple's ring
Man finds couple's ring after years and meets couple by chance
A married couple from Beverwijk have recovered a lost wedding ring after eight years. The jewelry had been retrieved from the ground by a man with a metal detector, with whom the couple struck up a conversation by chance.
On Wednesday, Bertie and Johan Provenzano were walking around their neighborhood in Beverwijk. They got talking to Richard de Bree, who also had his metal detector with him at the time.
Johan told him that he had lost his wedding ring eight years ago at a neighborhood playground. Richard, in turn, said that he had found a gold ring just two weeks ago. It turned out to be Bertie and Johan’s ring. Engraved on the ring were the couple’s wedding date and the name “Bertie.”
"When we found it, we thought 'nice, a gold ring.' Of course, we had no idea we would run into the owners," says Richard, who has since returned the ring to Johan.
"I thought that can't be true after eight years, can it?" says Bertie. "But it really is," Johan adds. "I'll never forget something like that in my life."
