Platinum ring with diamonds in rail setting

This platinum ring with diamonds in rail setting was specially crafted for a client. The client came with a yellow gold ring that had been sold as white gold through a thin rhodium layer. As often happens, this layer wears off and the yellow gold remains visible.

Since diamonds shine best in a white precious metal, I advised her to have the stones set in a ring made of platinum. Platinum is not only durable and hard-wearing, but also retains its color, so the diamonds always look their best.

From design to implementation

Craft rail setting

The new ring is made entirely by hand from platinum. The diamonds are placed in a so-called rail setting: here, the stones lie tightly side by side in a narrow groove, which I drill, mill and cut by hand. This setting provides a sleek, modern look and offers good protection to the stones.

Maximum light

On the inside of the ring, directly below the diamonds, small square openings have been cut. This allows light to fall on the stones from multiple sides, which significantly enhances the brilliance.

Durability and timeless beauty

A platinum ring with diamonds in rail setting combines the best of both worlds: a strong, colorfast metal and a setting that keeps the diamonds safe as well as brilliant. The result is a piece of jewelry that stays beautiful for years, both in everyday use and on special occasions.
