The Story Behind: The Bryce Collection
The Story Behind the Bryce Collection
Many of my designs are inspired by architecture. Lines, rhythm, and symmetry often form the basis of my collections. But sometimes inspiration comes from somewhere entirely different—not from buildings, but from the heart of nature. Taking in the rhythm of the rock formations, the deep grooves, and the way the sunlight glided over the ridges. At that moment, I knew: there’s a piece of jewelry in this.
That's how the Bryce collection came to be.
Bryce Canyon
Bryce Canyon National Park, in the U.S. state of Utah, is a landscape that’s almost impossible to describe. Everywhere you look, you see towering rock pillars, deep canyons, and endless rows of peaks and valleys. Millions of years of wind, rain, and frost have created a landscape that constantly changes with the light.
What struck me most was the repetition of shapes. No two rocks are alike, but together they create a rhythm that feels almost architectural. That’s exactly what appealed to me as a designer.
From rock formation to jewelry
As I walked through Bryce Canyon, I automatically started looking at the lines—not the big picture, but the details: the vertical ridges, the sharp peaks, and the deep shadows in between.
I wondered how I could translate that feeling into a piece of jewelry.
Not by literally replicating a rock, but by capturing its essence. Just as I do with architecture.
Highs and Lows
The distinctive ridges in the Bryce collection are directly inspired by the canyon’s rock formations. The interplay between high and low lines gives the jewelry its character. Polishing the ridges to a high gloss also creates a beautiful interplay of light and shadow.
Depending on how the light falls on the jewelry, the shapes seem to change constantly. That’s exactly what fascinated me about Bryce Canyon itself.
Edgy yet sophisticated
What I love about this collection is the contrast. It’s inspired by a rugged landscape, but the end result is actually refined. The bold lines give the jewelry a rugged look, while the high-gloss finish adds a touch of elegance.
You often see that tension in my work. I love it when a design can be both powerful and subtle at the same time.
A Landscape to Wear
All jewelry in the Bryce collection is handcrafted in gold, silver, or platinum. Each piece is carefully constructed and finished so that the ridges catch the light perfectly.
The collection is not a literal depiction of Bryce Canyon. It is my interpretation of a landscape that left a lasting impression on me. A translation of nature into precious metal.
That way, you're not just wearing a piece of jewelry, but also a part of the story behind it.
