The shopping street is alive and well and you can feel it in the studio
The numbers don't lie: Dutch shopping streets are attracting people again. In the third quarter of 2025 there were no less than 9% more visitors than last year, reports BNR news radio and others. After years in which online shopping seemed to dominate the streets, people are returning to physical stores. And I also notice this in my work.
Personal contact
Something special is released when people really get back into the city, walking, exploring, talking, looking and feeling. That is exactly the magic I also want to hold in my studio. You don't buy a jewel fleetingly. You feel it, try it, and sometimes you tell a piece of your story with it. That personal contact is irreplaceable.
Craft and emotion
More and more people step in with a desire to have a piece of jewelry made that truly suits them, or to have a piece of jewelry repaired that is precious and allowed to come back to life. Those moments, where craft and emotion come together, make my work so special.
The city takes on a different rhythm
What strikes me is that the boundaries between weekdays and weekends are blurring. People come in spontaneously, not only on Saturdays, but also on Monday afternoons or a Thursday after work. That gives the city a different rhythm: quieter, but also livelier at the same time.
Connection
The resurgence of the high street means more than numbers. It is a sign that people are seeking connection again. Not just with products, but with makers, stories and places. And that is exactly what I stand for: craftsmanship that you can touch, experience and take with you, literally and figuratively.
Physical, online and by appointment
Fortunately, for those who live further away, there is also my webshop, a nice addition to the studio. This way people from all over the country and beyond can discover my work, order or get inspiration for a unique piece of custom jewelry. And would you rather discuss something in peace or visit me personally for a design or repair? That is also possible by appointment, outside regular opening hours. I like to take my time for you.
